SIX at The Everyman Theatre

Nominated for five Olivier Awards including Best New Musical, SIX began life at Edinburgh Fringe with a student cast before being catapulted into a sell-out West End show and given a slot on Broadway. It’s a wonderfully niche plotline about the six wives of Henry VIII who take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing 500 years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st-century girl power. Unique – but it works. Vogue described the play as ‘a riotous explosion of wit that speaks strongly and vibrantly to today’ while the Evening Standard described SIX as the ‘most uplifting piece of new British musical theatre’.

Until 6th November. The Everyman Theatre, Regent Street, Cheltenham, GL50 1HQ. 01242 572 573.

Switch on of the Cheltenham Christmas lights

Live like a local and kick off the festive season in Cheltenham with the switching on of the Christmas lights. Taking place in the Brewery Quarter, Cheltenham High Street/The Promenade and Regent Arcade, it’s set to be action-packed, filled with music and Christmas delights. There will be carol singing, children from the local stage school performing West End hits and circus entertainer Thomas Trilby will be stopping by, too, bringing magic skills, comedy and family fun to the event. But perhaps most exciting is that Father Christmas will be paying a visit to the Brewery Quarter at 6.30pm.

20th November. Various locations around Cheltenham.
